December 15, 2007

COS Ph.D. Program Application Applications and supporting documents for admission to the doctoral programs within the School of Computer Science must be received by December 15. This deadline is final.

There is a common online application form available for admission to graduate programs within the School of Computer Science. COS applicants should apply through this and list COS as the program of choice.

ICC Writing Clinic

Inter Cultural Center at CMU (in Warner Hall) offers a variety of services for non-native speakers (writing/ speaking). Their url is

The ICC Writing Clinic is a one-on-one, educational support service designed to help non-native speakers of English improve the writing skills they need to succeed in their academic work.
The Writing Clinic helps students with a variety of writing issues.
For example, they help students:

* improve basic skills such as constructing sentences and linking
paragraphs
* write abstracts, research papers, and other academic papers
* develop an idea for a writing assignment
* understand cultural differences and expectations which can interfere with a non-native speaker's ability to write clearly
for a native English speaking audience
