Research: Jürgen Pfeffer's research focus lies in the computational analysis of organizations and societies with a special emphasis on large-scale systems. His research combines traditional network analysis and dynamic network analysis theories and methods with up-to-date science from the areas of visual analytics, geographic information systems, system dynamics, and data mining. Central research interests are in:
- Optimizing existing measures and developing new measures to analyze large networks within reasonable time.
- Developing algorithms to identify and evaluate structural change in evolving networks.
- Developing visual analytics methods for network data that facilitate analytical reasoning by utilizing the human power to capture complex interrelations.
- Modeling the structure and dynamics of real world interpersonal networks to simulate the Diffusion of information, innovation, opinions, and beliefs.
